WINTER SESSION 2021 – POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Memo ~ As of December 22nd 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly impacted the way we live and our day to day operations. With that being said, every organization is different and there are many things to consider when new government mandates are issued that will impact and affect each organization or business differently.
As it stands, we are in the "Red Zone.
Prior to being in the “red zone” we were able to operate on a 50-person max capacity, so we had reduced class sizes and no more than 45 people max total (as a buffer) in our facility at one time. We were previously able to run more than just 1 or 2 programs at a time with a 50 person max rule.
Now that we have moved into (and remain in) the red zone, with a 10 person max rule, having over 2-3 competitive groups in each evening and 4-7 recreational groups at a time, we could evidently not meet the new red zone requirements operating how we were.
Normally, we have over 500 children registered in our facilities between our competitive and recreational programs and we operate on a much larger scale with several programs than other local organizations.
That being said, we directly seek the advice of Gymnastics Ontario, Provincial Mandates and our local public health unit, with information relative to our facility, to see what we can reasonably and safely do with the new parameters that is not breaking any rules and that is keeping the health and safety of all patrons as the number one priority. That being said, The Provincial legislation very clearly indicates that (sport facilities while in the “red zone”) must operate at a 10 max per entire facility and in good faith we’re adhering to this Provincial mandate.
As we lead into the Holidays where there is the likelihood of gatherings, and while still remaining in the red-zone, we have made the decision as an organization that due to the volume of our programming, we cannot feasibly and safely meet the requirements of the provincial mandate, thus our decision to suspend the Recreational Winter 2021 Session until further notice.
Since no communication was issued as per timeline by the government as to how long we will be in the “red zone”, we are taking it day by day and will respond quickly once communication has been issued or if our status changes.
We look forward to getting our session up and running as soon as we can do so safely.
We ask that you please be patient as we work through this unpresented time together.
